A letter from John Mickel, State Member For Logan,to residents around Chambers Flat Road and Crowson Lane intersection with Mt Lindesay Highway advises us of the status of this major road infrastructure.
Main Roads officers will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

- Planning is underway for the upgrading next section of the Mount Lindesay Highway between Rosia Road and Chambers Flat Road.
- The next section of works includes constructing a grade separated interchange at the intersection of the highway with Chambers Flat Road and Crowson Lane and extending four lanes for the highway south of Chambers Flat Road.
- The project team is currently working on a proposed design taking into consideration previous community consultation. During this process, the team will also be consulting with directly affected property owners and the wider community to ensure local residents' issues and concerns are identified.
- All community feedback will be taken into consideration to develop the best design for residents and motorists.
What provisions will be made to ensure that local wildlife are also safe? The construction of the overpass will cause a large area of remnant forest area to be cleared - home and habitat for many native wildlife - including koalas who have been sighted around this intersection.
Newly appointed Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace has affirmed his commitment to road projects ... but does not include wildlife in his statement April 23, 2009.
"It is my aim to make sure we get the best value for money out of our projects so we can deliver as much road as possible to the community. The Bligh Government's 2008-09 to 2012-13 Roads Implementation Program is the largest in Queensland's history, allocating a total of $16.2 billion for roadworks and supporting services. Almost $1.65 billion of new projects are due to begin in the 2009-10 financial and our investment will ensure that at least 13,000 jobs are created or sustained." ...

WE NEED TO TELL THE MINISTER THAT THE COMMUNITY EXPECTS FAUNA SENSITIVE ROAD DESIGN THAT ALLOWS FOR SAFE PASSAGE OF FAUNA - AS WELL AS SAFETY FOR HUMANS.
WE ALSO EXPECT NO NET LOSS OF HABITAT.
