Bat Care Brisbane .rescue.education.conservation.habitat

The Rescue Helpline is available for bat rescue advice and assistance. The Helpline services the Greater Brisbane Area, taking in Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and Pine Rivers.

The Helpline is staffed by local volunteers, who have been trained in Bat rescue, care and rehabilitation. It is an EPA requirement that all bat hanlders be vaccinated against Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABL). All of our volunteers have been appropriately vaccinated.

Nature photography

TrekNature is a dedicated nature and wildlife photo community, dedicated to fostering a global community interested in nature photography from around the world. TrekNature members strive to provide engaging photographs and useful critiques for each other and the entire internet community. The underlying theme of TrekNature is learning more about the world through nature photography. TrekNature fosters this by allowing photographers to display their work grouped by regions in a supportive and orderly environment. This is accomplished by an easy-to-use system which encourages people to critique each other's work. Integrated with this system are forums designed to encourage discussion about specific photos, countries, and general topics. Since TrekNature is globally oriented, it is completely multilingual capable, allowing for the widest audience possible.

Bat Care Brisbane is a volunteer self-funded organisation whose aims are :
To provide accurate and nformative education, through literature, community events and talks to the general public about the mportance of bats, both megabat and icrobat.
To provide an efficient and humane service to rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned bats, and to return them to the wild as soon as possible. To be active in the conservation of bats and their habitat.

The primary aims and objectives of Wildcare Australia are:-
To provide a high standard of rescue, care, rehabilitation for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native fauna for successful release into the natural environment.
For the protection and enhancement of the environment by providing quality care in Queensland for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native Australian wildlife.
The conservation of native fauna and their habitat Australia-wide, including research on the biology and medicine of native fauna is also of primary concern.
To provide an educational and consultancy service to schools and other organisations with respect to habitat conservation and related issues
To provide extensive and up to date training for wildlife volunteers in all aspects of wildlife care.

Friends of the Koala

Friends of the Koala Friends of the Koala is a non-profit community group run by volunteers dedicated to conserving koalas in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Volunteer rehabilitators operate a 24 hour rescue service for sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Koalas are cared for in home care or at the Koala Care Centre on Rifle Range Rd, Lismore, NSW. Critically ill koalas are transferred to the Australian Wildlife Hospital in Beerwah, QLD. A native plant nursery is attached to the Care Centre providing koala food trees for free to local landholders. The proceeds from other native plant sales go towards the cost of koala care. Friends of the Koala plays an active role in promoting habitat restoration in the Northern Rivers Region. This includes encouraging landholders to commit to new plantings and maintaining and looking after remnant vegetation. Although based in NSW this organization's site contains much valuable information.	27

Frogs captivate and fascinate; brown, grey and emerald-spotted treefrogs with their padded, webbed feet; desert-burrowing frogs with their bulging, jewelled eyes and spade feet; the raucous chorus of croaks, tocks and plonks on rainy summer nights.
There are around 54 species of frogs in South-east Queensland, including the Cane Toad. Finding out about the frogs in your backyard can help you understand your local environment and help frog survival.
